Filming in Jakarta: Dian, one foot in a slum, one foot in a marketing company
And meet our main character in Indonesia, discover our new podcast, watch Romain and Katrin on TV...
Progress review with Rachel
Hello everyone,
"Time flowed like a river, I didn't see it go by!” André Gide was neither the first, nor the last, to confront the mystery of time. It also took us by surprise, but let's try to catch up in this newsletter. Flashback: May, June 2023.
The shooting in Jakarta was punctuated by life in the Kampung Sawah slum (featured by Yanti here). We shot with Dian, a young Indonesian woman who is passionate about drawing. She completed the Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y) program and now works in a digital marketing agency that she loves.
We also launched our podcast channel and went on Indonesian television!
Finally, June marked the end of our crowdfunding campaign, with a total of €27,000 raised. Thank you all for your support! If you haven't yet been able to make a financial contribution to the film, it's not too late - go here.
Gwen’s portrait: Dian, drawing as a leverage for integration
Every morning, Dian leaves her house, in the slum of Kampung Sawah, to go to Raja Asia Perkasa, a company specialized in personal care and beauty products marketing. Two worlds that seem to have nothing in common…
Her determination, drawing skills and the LP4Y training led her to achieve her dream: become a graphic designer! Today she has new dreams, but she doesn’t want to move away from the slum where she grew up.
“I have found my passion in art, especially drawing and painting. I love the creativity and freedom of expression that I can manifest through graphic design. In this job, I am happy to be able to combine my interest in art with a job that is fun.”
Dian is the main character from Indonesia. Through her drawings, discussions with family and friends, and the discovery of her neighborhood, she takes us into an intimate reflection on poverty, perseverance and her role in the fight against climate change, which is destroying her country.

[Vidéo] Switch of focus : Romain et Katrin on TV
Youth Visions on Indonesian TV!
At 6am, a SEA today car picks us up in the slum of Kampung Sawah. An unusual ride for the show's team...
7am: Romain and Katrin get their make-up and hair done.
8.30am: set-up, 3...2...1... Lights, camera, action! “Youth Visions is a movie project to raise the voice of people living in poverty (...) I realized that people around me doing consulting were as much as interesting as people I met in the slum”
To embody this conviction: Katrin, a former LP4Y youth, who grew up in a slum and is now finishing her studies in mathematics.
In front of the presenters' enthusiasm, she replies: “I want to show to young adults that it’s not because you are coming from the slums or a poor area, that you can’t have a good education and achieve your dreams”.

8h30 : installation, 3…2…1… ça tourne. “Youth Visions is a movie project to raise the voice of people living in poverty (...) I realized that people around me doing consulting were as interesting as people I met in the slum”.
Devant l'enthousiasme des présentateurs, elle répond : “I want to show to young adults that it’s not because you are coming from the slums or a poor area, that you can’t have a good education and achieve your dreams”.
